There was originally a water mill in Thorp Arch, to the right of this photograph. The mill is now apartments, but the weir remains and provides an interesting focal point for this snowy picture of the River Wharfe taken from Boston Spa bridge. The largely overcast afternoon light gives an attractive blue tone to the image, reinforcing the impression of a bracing winter day
