Castle Hill is a prehistoric hill fort site in Thrunton Woods near Callaly in Northumberland with clear earth ramparts around the top of a wooded hill. Several of the old beech trees on the summit have been partially uprooted by the wind, growing multiple trunks and twisted branches, recalling for me, the Lord of the Rings.
