A very long exposure shot looking across Malham Tarn at sunset. The slow movement of clouds during the exposure gives an ethereal beauty to the scene.The surface of Malham tarn itself was calm, giving a clear reflection of the sunset and the clouds. Most of the landscape in this part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park is limestone. Malham Tarn's bed is however made from impermeable 400 million year old slate, sealed with mud at the end of the last ice age.
