The Yoredale series of rocks, some 300 million years old, has alternating bands of hard and soft rock which have given rise to many of the Yorkshire Dales famous waterfalls. This summer view shows the lower falls with the close viewpoint emphasising the power of the water as it descends the limestone steps.
