Aysgarth Upper Falls, Wensleydale

The Yoredale series of rocks, some 300 million years old, has alternating bands of hard and soft rock which have given rise to many of the Yorkshire Dales famous waterfalls. This early Autumn view shows the lower falls bounded by trees after heavy rain, with the characteristic peaty colouring of the waters of the River Ure.
