Bolton Priory, Wharfedale

Bolton Priory, Wharfedale

Bolton Priory was founded in 1154, and developed over the next four hundred years until it was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1539. The nave of the priory was saved from destruction, and is still used as the local parish church. This winter picture shows the contrast between the warm honey coloured stone and the surrounding snowy landscape.
