Autumn Beech Woods at Otley Chevin, Lower Wharfedale
Otley Chevin is a millstone grit ridge rising to a height of 280m above the market town of Otley in Lower Wharfedale. Much of the ridge is wooded, and some 700 acres is managed as a nature reserve (Otley Chevin Forest Park) by leeds City Council. The photograph was taken at the western end of the Chevin woodland where the trees are predominantly Beech. it shows an interesting contrast of colours, with typical rich brown fallen Beech leaves, but a surprising, almost spring green, colour of the leaves remaining on the trees.
