Starry Night at Clifford’s Tower, York

Starry Night at Clifford’s Tower, York

The mound or motte upon which Clifford’s Tower stands was built by William the Conqueror in 1068. The stone castle was built on this mound in 1245-1265. It was repaired during the English Civil War, later became a prison and is now one of York’s iconic sights. This unusual view was captured on a dark and clear winter night.
