Stonegate has been a highway for almost 2000 years. The street started its life as the Via Praetoria which was the busiest and most important road inside the Roman fortress. It boasts many fine medieval buildings, including Mulberry Hall, which dates to 1434 and is at the heart of York’s commercial core to this day.
