Originally a large fishing village, Staithes is now one of the most attracive and distinctive settlements along the Yorkshire coast. The cottages are clustered on all the available land around Roxby Beck. This view also shows the cliffs which hem the village in on all sides, and the breakwater which protects it from Northerly gales.
